Silver Jubilee Celebration of Warjri Clan Concluded

Thousands of Warjri clan members congregated at the annual general council of the Dorbar Seng Kur Warjri at Thynroit on 12th December, 2023 to mark the Silver Jubilee celebration of the clan. The colourful celebration was graced by advisers, Mr P B O Warjri, former Chief Secretary of Meghalaya and R V Warjri, former Ambassador, the senior members of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep and senior members of Hynñiewtrep Youth Council. The year-long celebration was enhanced with a variety of physical and creative skills activities, which culminated with the Mini Marathon in the morning and the subsequent clan council deliberated by senior clan members. As part of the entertainment for the audience, renowned choreographer Dapalei Warjri performed with her group and was the winner of a singing contest, Noury Warjri sang during the morning celebration, followed by other children and young people in various performances. The Seng Kur Warjri also felicitated to selected outstanding people in different field of education and skilled-based career. The recipients are  Ellerene Warjri for securing first class second position in the Bachelor of Education Examination, 2023, NEHU, Obinas Warjri for securing the Gold Medal in the Senior Category of the 5th Annual National Martial Arts Games, Badahunshisha Warjri for securing 2nd position in the Poster Contest 2023 by Forest and Environment Department, Meghalaya in partnership with Global Tribal Forum. The founding mebers of the Warjri clan organisation were facilitated on the occasion and a Silver Jubilee Souvenir in memory of the founding President, (L) D L Warjri was presented to his wife, Mrs P O Kharkongor who was accompanied by her children.

 

The official celebration was marked with the unfurling of the Warjri Clan flag by the diginitaries in the presence of the guests and general members of the clan. A delegation of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Kur: ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep and Hynñiewtrep Youth Council graced the occasion and shared their thoughts on various aspects of social significance. A brief and meaningful speeches was delivered by Mr R L Kharpran, Vice President of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur and Mr Roy Kupar Synrem, President of HYC. The day was also observed as the Khasi New Year day according to the lunar calendar under the tutelage of Mr Raphael Warjri who explained the ancient folk custom of  time calculation.

 

The winners of various contests are Marathon, the first prize goes to Teibanstone Warjri of Thynroit unit, second prize to Denzil Gordy Warjri of Mawlai, third prize to Bateiskhem Warjri of Thynroit in the male category. In the female category, the first prize was bagged by Aquilin Warjri of Wahlang unit, second prize went to Banrisuk Warjri of Wahlang unit, third prize went to Shishabahun Nongkynrih. The prizes for the youngest participant went to  Morgan Jones Warjri of Sohryngkham unit, and the oldest to  Langtimai Warjri, of Siejiong unit, while three consolation prizes went to Phibanshimti Warjri of Nongkynrih unit, Sanhil Warjri of Thynroit unit, and Anginia Warjri of Umphrew village under Umrynjah unit. In the Basketball tournament, Mawlai unit is the champion in both male and female categories, while the runners-up are Mawprem unit in the male category and the Wahlang unit in the female category. The trophy of champion in the football tournament went to Manai unit and the runners-up to Urur Rangshken unit. The other prizes for football are Best Goalkeeper to Freddy Fender Warjri of Manai unit, top scorer to Balajied Warjri of Manai and Shimbor Warjri of Urur Rangshken, Best playerto Balajied Warjri and Promising Football player was bagged by Micky Berth Warjri. In the fancy dress contest, Wanbok Warjri, of Mawkneng is given the first prize, second prize to Marbakordor Warjri, of Siejiong, third prize to Mebanshngain Warjri, of Siejiong in the junior category. The senior category of Fancy Dress contest, the first prize goes to Graceful joy Warjri (Mawkneng) second prize Wandarika Stella Warjri (Sohryngkham) and third prizes to Cynthia Warjri, (Upper shillong) and Iaphira Warjri, (Mawkneng). in the painting contest Bankhraw Warjri, of Lummawbah got the first prize,  Naphida B Warjri, of Mawprem in the second place, Badahunshisha Warjri,  of Pyndengumiong received the third prize, while a nine year old boy, Mewanshwa Warjri, Siejiong received a special prize. In the singing contest, senior category, Noury Warjri (Laitkor) won the first prize, Ibasuklang Warjri (Siejïong) second prize and Ibapynjanai Warjri (Mawkriah) third prize. In the singing contest junior category, the first prize went to Hamebansan Warjri - Nongmynsong, second prize went to Ila Warjri - Kynshi, and third prize went to Shisha Warjri - Mairang. The winners of the Essay contest are  Sharina Warjri in the first position, second to Dollyrene Warjri of  Mawkneng, and third to  Ibapynsuk Warjri of Myrkhan. The poetry contest was won by Bamisha Warjri. In the danccing contest Dafini Warjri of Mawkneng got the first prize, second prioze to Jesika warjri of Mawkneng and Letizia Warjri of Mawprem got the third prize.
