CEASEFIRE AT LOC | INDIA & PAKISTAN RECOMMIT TO 2003 AGREEMENT

In a major breakthrough for regional peace, India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir — a move welcomed by many as a step toward stability in South Asia.
The ceasefire, announced jointly by the military authorities of both nations, comes after high-level talks between the Directors General of Military Operations — or DGMOs — earlier this week.
In a joint statement, the two sides agreed to strictly observe the 2003 ceasefire understanding, aiming to reduce tensions and avoid further civilian casualties along the volatile border.
Officials say the agreement was reached in a "free, frank, and cordial" atmosphere — with both sides committing to improved communication and peace along the frontlines.
While the guns may fall silent — at least for now — experts caution that sustained diplomacy will be the real key to lasting peaceTonight, hope returns to the borders — but as history has shown, the real challenge lies in maintaining that peace.
