Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation visited State Central Library, Shillong

Prof. B. V. Sharma, Director General, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF)
has visited State Central Library, Shillong today. Shri D. D. Shira, Director Arts and Culture
welcomed him. RRRLF, an organisation under the Union Ministry of Culture, has been
serving for the upliftment and betterment of public libraries throughout the country. Almost
each of the public libraries under the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of
Meghalaya have been supported by RRRLF through their various matching and non-
matching schemes. Prof. Sharma said “We are organizing a capacity Building Training
Program from 28 th November to 2 nd December, 2023 for Public Library Professionals in
collaboration with North Eastern Hill University, where Library Professionals from Assam,
Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura will be trained in respect of modern ICT
technologies for Libraries, library automation etc. and we have sanctioned this library as a
Model Library under National Mission on Libraries (NML).” Shri Dipanjan Chattarjee,
Project Officer, NML, who is also in Shillong for organizing the Training Program said “We
are Organizing such training Programs throughout the country in collaboration with various
universities and State Governments. Till now 37 programs were conducted and more than
1400 professional were trained.”
