The Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, under the chairmanship of Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, MLA (Amlarem) and Chairman of the Committee, hosted a meeting with the Sister Committee from the Kerala Legislative Assembly at the Annexe Hall, Rilbong, Shillong, on Monday, 28th April 2025.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Lahkmen Rymbui and was attended by members of the Meghalaya Committee, including Shri Rupa M. Marak (MLA, Dadenggre) and Shri Gabriel Wahlang (MLA, Nongstoin). Also present were officials from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat: Shri Malthus S. Sangma, Secretary; Shri R. Nongsteng, Under Secretary; and Smti L. Mynsong, Committee Officer.

The Kerala delegation was led by Acting Chairman Shri A. Prabhakaran and included Members Shri Kurukkoli Moideen (MLA, Tirur), Shri K. K. Ramachandran (MLA, Puthukkad), Shri G. Stephen (MLA, Aruvikkara), Shri T. J. Vinod (MLA, Ernakulam), and Shri K. Babu (MLA, Thripunithura).

Officials accompanying the Kerala delegation included Shri Nanda Kumar R, Under Secretary; Shri Anil Kumar G. K., Assistant Section Officer; Shri Sandhya S. Nair, Assembly Attendant; and Smti Asha Karunakaran, Reporter Grade-I, from the Kerala Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

The meeting fostered discussions on welfare initiatives, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration between the two State Legislatures in the area of welfare for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes.
