Hajom Kissor Singh Memorial Lecture on Unitarianism

The Hajom Kissor Sing memorial lecture and death centenary of the founder of the Unitarian faith in the State was held today 4 November 2023 in the city with hundreds of faithful paying tribute to the visionary leader. The State chief minister, Mr Conrad K Sangma graced the occasion as chief guest and joined the gathering to pay homage to the great legend of Khasi society. The chief guest expressed amazement at the vision of Hajom Kissor Sing about a century ago, while today the people of the State asserted for emphasis of vernacular language in education. Sangma declared that a hundred crores of rupees will be earmarked for research on the cultural heritage of the state and reiterated that efforts are on to get the recognition of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian constitution.
The memorial lecture was delivered by Dr Sylvanus Lamare who spoke at length on the contribution of Hajom Kissor Sing to education, social welfare, the environment, and every aspect of human society.
