Following a spate of public complaints over severe traffic congestion allegedly triggered by the unregulated movement of goods-laden trucks along the Dawki road, the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation, Dawki Border Area Circle, recently carried out a spot inspection of the affected stretch.

The inspection revealed that the road continues to witness acute traffic snarls, disrupting the smooth movement of vehicles and causing inconvenience to commuters.

Addressing mediapersons, HITO Dawki Border Area Circle President, Wanbor Lamin, expressed grave concern over the prevailing traffic situation and underscored the urgent need for effective traffic management.

He informed that the organisation also held deliberations with members of the Association Truck Riwar Mihngi to evolve a mechanism for regulating the movement of stone-laden trucks to minimise disruptions to public traffic.

The organisation appealed to truck owners, traditional village authorities, truck associations and the police to work in close coordination to streamline vehicular movement and ensure the free flow of traffic along the strategic Dawki route.

HITO further warned against any individual or group resorting to arbitrary road blockades or actions that impede traffic without valid justification, stating that such acts only aggravate public inconvenience.
