DDU-GKY CxO Meet 2023
DDU-GKY CXO meet held on 7th December 2023 is an annual convergence event that brings in
key stakeholders which includes the Government and the various prospective employers /
companies along with the existing partners together with key objective to create a discourse on
the importance of good collaborative work that connects various skill gaps in the state. This
event marks as an opportunity to ensure that the trainees are able to benefit in a way that their
needs are thoroughly discussed with an emphasis on post - training quality placement
assurance, capacity building, safety and security, and lucrative packages. Their long-term
sustainability is also discussed at length to ensure that their future is secured.
This year's CxO meet was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri A.T. Mondal, Honourable Minister of
Community & Rural Development Department. While waxing lyrical about the work done by
the DDU-GKY in realising the dreams of the rural youths, he was concerned about the
disconnect in the rural youths in Meghalaya from the rest of the country. He also stressed on
the over-reliance on government jobs that must be discouraged so as to pave the way for the
limitless opportunities by the bountiful private firms. He lauded efforts by the DDU-GKY for
providing a pathway to the rural youths in the domestic as well as the international platforms
where he singled out praises to one particular ex-trainee who will be relocated to Kuwait within
this month after her successful journey with the DDU-GKY affiliated partner. He highlighted the
need to meet the fulfilment as the current number of 6,800 candidates were trained,
amounting to 73%. Although the COVID period had brought a slump in the job market, he
remained positive about the turnaround of events that led to the popularity of the Work-from-
home culture. According to him, a Learn-from-home culture also required equal acceptance
with the utilization of modern techniques of learning through devices and the internet. Another
key highlight made by him was the particular interest that most NE youths have, which is the
English language. He opined that youths can capitalize on this command over English as it is
very much needed in multiple key sectors from logistics to hospitality and the service sector.
The event was attended and also addressed by Smti. C. Kharkongor, IAS, Secretary, C&RD, Shri
S. C. Sadhu, IAS, Secretary & Director, C&RD and Shri Ranghey Raghav, Assistant Director, NIRD-
PR, Hyderabad.

Agencies (PIA) was recognised and awarded as the Best Performing PIA for their creditable
