Customs Combat Cross Border Crime
Acting on specific information that a consignment of drugs would be carried in a car coming from Silchar, officers of CCP Shillong intercepted a Tata Punch car in the evening of 22.11.23 at Nongmynsong, Shillong. On interrogation of the occupants, it was denied that any such contraband was being carried by them. However, on thorough rummaging of the vehicle, 30 soap cases of similar size were recovered from the interior part of the vehicle dashboard. On being tested with the field test kit, the product tested positive for Heroin. A total of 370 gms of pinkish powdey substance tested to be Heroin was recovered and seized with a seizure value of approx. Rs 2.59 Crore. Two persons have been arrested and further investigation is in progress.
