A delegation representing the Umsning People's Front recently met with Meghalaya Director General of Police Aidashisha Nongrang to submit a memorandum urging the establishment of a dedicated Traffic Branch and a Fire and Emergency Service Station in the Umsning area.

According to the delegation, while the residents of Umsning are law-abiding and focused on development, they continue to face challenges due to the lack of essential public infrastructure. They emphasized that the presence of these institutions would provide the necessary support from the state government and contribute to the overall growth and safety of the region.

In a separate memorandum, the Umsning People's Front also apprised the state government of the ongoing power supply crisis, which they claimed is severely affecting large sections of the population, particularly in areas such as Nongppih and Umsning.

The delegation alleged that the inconsistent and inadequate power supply has disrupted daily life and economic activity in the region. In the memorandum, the UPF issued a 15-day deadline for the government to respond to their concerns. They further cautioned that failure to act within the stipulated period would compel them to initiate democratic and peaceful public mobilization efforts to safeguard the interests of the local population.
