The 5th Meghalaya Games is all set for a grand inauguration on January 15, 2024.

Tura, January 14, 2024: The 5th Meghalaya Games is all set for a grand inauguration on January 15, 2024 with the last batch of athletes and officials arriving at Tura on today morning.

Officials of Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) and District Administration of West Garo Hills accorded traditional welcome to the last batch of athletes arriving at ISBT, Tura for the Meghalaya Games 2024.

History will be created on January 15 when President of India, Smti. Droupadi Murmu, will inaugurate the 5th edition of the Meghalaya Games at PA Sangma Stadium in Tura. This is also the first time in history that the Meghalaya Games are being held outside Shillong.

The athletes who arrived at ISBT, Tura were also treated to live performances by teams of Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project, uplifting their spirit and infusing them with the energy and vibe of the Games.

A full dress rehearsal is also  taking place at PA Sangma Stadium for smooth conduct of the inauguration ceremony in accordance with the protocols for the President’s visit. 

Close to 3000 athletes are participating in the 5th Meghalaya Games across 23 disciplines, which will be played in 16 venues across the Tura town.

Additionally, some of the injured athletes were provided with medical aid at the ISBT.
