On October 30, 2023, a delegation from the Meghalaya Asha Workers Union, led by President Mirajune Myrsing and legal Advisor Sony Kharjana, met with the Minister in charge of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh, to discuss the long-pending demands of
the union.

After the meeting, Sony Kharjana, the legal advisor of the Meghalaya Asha Workers Union (MAWU), expressed dissatisfaction with the minister's response regarding the workers' demands. These demands encompass; an increase in salary, the inclusion of workers in The Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS), and addressing the issue of downsizing in health centers across the state.
