In the picturesque Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, situated within Smit village, the Riti Niam and Shad Hima Khyrim, or Nongkrem Dance, hold considerable religious significance. Initial ceremonies within the governing clan have already been initiated, laying the foundation for the primary festivities scheduled to take place on November 1 and 2, 2023. The weeklong ceremony is a solemn observation to appease the sylvan deities and celebrate the harvest festival, including the wellbeing of the Hima and its citizens.  Contributions from various villages and administrative units, collectively known as the Raid of Hima Khyrim, have been consolidated to defray the substantial costs associated with this grand celebration. The annual ceremony and festival is one of the major cultural attractions for tourists and local inhabitants alike.
