Lajong suffer their first defeat of the season

Shillong Lajong FC were beaten 3-0 by Aizawl FC in the North-East derby held today at the SSA
Stadium,Shillong. The loss also meant that Lajong’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end.
Aizawl were set on course with a good start by scoring early into the game through their forward
Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia in the 4th minute. Aizawl went on to doubled their advantage in the 17th minute
through R Ramdinthara.
Aizawl were content with their lead and allowed Lajong to dominate the proceedings. But they
ensured that their defence held firm and went into the first half leading by 2-0.
Aizawl extended their lead in the 57th minute through Joe Zoherliana following a corner.
Lajong tried their best to stage a fightback and did hit the woodwork a couple of times but Aizawl
were able to preserve their lead and went on to collect all three points after the full time whistle.
With this loss, Lajong are currently in the fourth spot with 16 points from nine matches. They will be
playing their next match away from home against Real Kashmir FC on the 16th of December at 2pm in
the TRC Turf Ground, Srinagar.
