The newly elected Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) for the 2026–2029 tenure was formally sworn in on Saturday at a ceremony held at the Soso Tham Auditorium.

The oath of office was administered by North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) Chairman and former KSU President, Samuel B. Jyrwa, in the presence of former and incumbent leaders, members and well-wishers of the organisation.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in three batches, led respectively by General Secretary Reuben Najiar, Vice-President Pynkmenlang Sanmiet and newly elected KSU President Raymond Kharjana.

In his address, Jyrwa underscored the enduring legacy of the KSU, stating that while leadership changes over time, the organisation’s mission and commitment to the community remain unwavering. He noted that throughout its 48-year journey, the KSU has consistently remained at the forefront of advocating for issues concerning the indigenous Khasi people and protecting their rights and interests.

Calling upon the new leadership to carry forward the Union’s legacy, Jyrwa stressed the importance of dedicated and responsible leadership in addressing the challenges confronting the indigenous community in the years ahead.

The event marked the formal commencement of the new CEC’s tenure, with expectations that the team will continue the organisation’s longstanding role as a key pressure group on matters affecting the Khasi community and the state.
