In response to grievances from the Khun Kynthei Hynniewtrep Association regarding alleged unlawful ownership and lack of trading licenses among non-tribal shopkeepers at Ïewduh, the KHADC inspected on December 6, 2023. However, none of the Khasi Women's Association appeared before the authorities to stake claim according to their complaint, which compelled the enforcement personnel of KHADC to take drastic steps against the various cases of violation of laws about legitimate ownership of the commercial establishments at Iewduh. The benamy transaction by the Non-Tribal traders in the State, particularly in Shillong City is alleged to be an old practice before the inception of Meghalaya, which became glaring and rampant at present.
