KHASI CULTURE SHINES IN MEGHALAYA'S VIBRANT CELEBRATION OF KA SHAD NONGKREM, 2023

Ka Shad Nongkrem stands as a pivotal cultural affair revered by the Khasi community in Meghalaya, India. It showcases vivid traditional performances, rituals, and ceremonies, emblematic of bountiful harvests and prosperity. This festival provides a platform to showcase the opulent cultural legacy of the Khasi people, garnering attention from both local and global audiences. This year, notable figures including Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, KHADC CEM Pyniaid Sing Syeim, Syiem of Hima Khyrim Dr. Balajied Sing Syiem, Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi, and legislators Shakliar Warjri and Ardent Miller Bassaiwmoit graced the event with their presence.

A multitude of onlookers gathered to witness the grandeur as adorned performers executed traditional routines to rhythmic beats at the Ing Sad at Smit. With a total of 288 participants comprising of 170 females and 118 males, this cultural extravaganza sought blessings for a fruitful harvest in the upcoming season.
