A delegation representing the Synjuk ki Khlieh Nongsynshar Shnong of Mawsynram C&RD Block met with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday to submit a memorandum urging the state government to upgrade Mawsynram to a Civil Sub-Division.

In their representation, the traditional leaders highlighted that the Mawsynram C&RD Block has been in existence for 62 years. They reiterated that the region’s challenging topography, growing population, extensive area, and the considerable distance from the district headquarters in Shillong warrant the upgradation. The delegation asserted that these factors have created a long-standing need for enhanced administrative accessibility and better governance through Civil Sub-Division status.
