The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Commandant, 4th MLP
Battalion, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District and Superintendent of Police,
West Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the High Court Legal Services
Committee, Shillong, District Legal Services Authority, West Khasi Hills District &
South West Khasi Hills District, Social Welfare Department, District Child
Protection Unit, West Khasi Hills District observed Children’s Day on the 14th
November, 2023 at 4th Battalion MLP, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District.
Around 200 children from various Child Care Institutions and school
students of West Khasi Hills District took part in the celebration of Children’s Day
2023. The programme included various talent shows, games, and sports competitions,
singing & dancing competition for children, exhibition of stalls put up by
Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, stalls of Police Department, West Khasi
Hills showcasing their tactical equipment, arms & ammunition, fire & emergency
services tools and equipment, etc.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.S. Thangkhiew,
Hon’ble Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of Meghalaya & Executive Chairman,
MSLSA in the august presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High
Court of Meghalaya & Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee. Others
present were Shri. E. Kharumnuid, MHJS, Registrar General, High Court of
Meghalaya cum Member Secretary, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shri.

K.J. Lyngdoh, MHJS, Registrar (Administration), High Court of Meghalaya, Shri.M.
Skhemlon, MHJS, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, DLSA, West Khasi
Hills District, Shri. T.T.M. Sangma, MJS, Officer on Special Duty, MSLSA,
Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills District, Commandant, 4th Battalion
MLP, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District along with other Judicial Officers, Lawyers,
staff of Government Departments, teachers, etc.
The programme ended with prize distribution to the children’s winners of
various competitions which were distributed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.S.
Thangkhiew, Hon’ble Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of Meghalaya & Executive
Chairman, MSLSA and Hon’ble Mr. Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of
Meghalaya & Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee, and followed by
entertainment led by the Meghalaya Police Cultural Troupe.
