Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday inaugurated the three-day Early Childhood Development (ECD) Implementation Science Workshop at Vivanta, Shillong, stressing that effective implementation and outcome-driven governance are key to addressing developmental challenges.

The workshop, organised under the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) in collaboration with SCEP, the Van Leer Foundation and the Asian Development Bank, has brought together policymakers, experts and practitioners from across the country.

Conrad Sangma highlighted Meghalaya's integrated approach to maternal and child development, emphasizing that governments must focus on improving lives rather than merely implementing schemes. Additional Chief Secretary Sampath Kumar outlined the State's progress in advancing ECD through inter-departmental convergence, while Van Leer Foundation representatives shared global experiences in translating ECD policies into action.
