In a significant development for law enforcement in Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma led the launch of a comprehensive fleet including 80 Bolero Vehicles, 140 motorcycles, cranes, laptops and other essential equipment on November 24th 2023 . This initiative aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Meghalaya police underscores the government's dedication to ensuring Public Safety and maintaining Law and Order . The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including deputy chief minister and urban affairs minister Sngiawbhalang Dhar, Health and Family welfare Minister Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh and other officials . During the event, chief minister Conrad K Sangma underscored the pivotal role of Law and Order in a well-functioning society. He highlighted the challenges faced by the police department and expressed the government's commitment to equipping Personnel for enhanced preparedness. Sangma specifically emphasized the need for the police force to be well equipped and trained to address evolving challenges. Additionally, he announced the establishment of an in-house Engineering Wing to address technical aspects promptly and effectively. He also pointed to the upcoming construction of the Assembly Building in New Shillong which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the city, with the traffic branch of the police department playing a crucial role in this regard.
