TWO ARRESTED IN NORTH GARO HILLS FOR VIRAL VIDEO PROMOTING ANTI-NATIONAL SENTIMENTS AND HATE SPEECH
A video from the Facebook Account Silgring D Sangma Sangma went viral in Social Media platforms such as Facebook and Whatsapp wherein two persons can be seen shouting and spreading message in Garo language filled with religious hatred and sloganeering against India and supporting and provoking attacks against India by Pakistan.
The content of the video is against the Sovereignty and Integrity of India, especially looking at the sensitivity of the current situation.
In this regard, the District Administration of North Garo Hills District submitted written FIR on 15-05-2025 at Bajengdoba Police Station against the persons involved in the crime and accordingly, a case was registered vide Bajengdoba PS Case No. 14/2025 under Section 152/197(1)(d) BNS, 2023.
During the course of investigation of the case, the North Garo Hills District Police managed to apprehend the two persons involved in the crime namely Shri Silgring D. Sangma of village Chorebolbok and Shri Asbath B. Marak of village Chambildam under Bajengdoba Police Station, North Garo Hills. They have been arrested today, the 17-05-2025. Further investigation of the case is going on.
