The Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association (MAWA) on Tuesday announced the launch of its Arm Wrestling Scouting programme as part of preparations for the 39th National Games, scheduled to be hosted by the state in 2027.

Addressing a press conference, MAWA president Junestar Kharphuli informed that the scouting event will take place from September 27 to October 4, 2025, at Shillong College. The competition will be open across multiple categories, including school students, college students from Class XI onwards, employees of government departments, private sector professionals, as well as members of gyms, clubs, and other organizations.

Kharphuli added that, apart from local trainers, international coaches will also be roped in to provide specialized training and grooming for selected participants. He further noted that detailed information about the event will be circulated through posters and flyers in the coming days.
