MAWSYNRAM LEADERS DEMAND PERMANENT CHIEFS, SORDARS FOR STRONGER TRADITIONAL GOVERNANCE

A delegation from the Mawsynram C&RD Block, comprising members from HNYF, HYC, and FKJGP, raised concerns over the alleged encroachment of lands by people from other communities. The group, led by Chairman of the coalition, Tyngshain Ronsang, met with the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC, Shemborlang Rynjah, to address the issue.
After the meeting, Ronsang informed the media that the delegation had urged CEM Rynjah to take action regarding the appointment of Acting Chiefs, Sordars, and Wahadars, stressing that these positions should be filled by permanently appointed individuals rather than acting officials. He emphasized that the term "acting" often undermines the authority of the office, particularly in relation to traditional governance.
The group submitted a formal petition to CEM Rynjah, requesting that permanent appointments be made to these positions to ensure stability and proper leadership within the region.
