The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has issued a 10-day deadline to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), urging immediate action on amendments to the Autonomous District (AD) Rule.

KHNAM Working President Thomas Passah voiced concern over the organisation’s repeated failure to secure a meeting with the CEM to deliberate on the issue. He noted that since Winston Tony Lyngdoh assumed charge as CEM, the party had met him only once, with subsequent efforts yielding no response apart from written communication.

Speaking to the media, Passah underscored the urgency of the matter, stating that the AD Rule remains a key concern for the party. He indicated that the latest letter submitted to the CEM should be considered a final representation.

Thomas Passah further stated that the party expects the KHADC to initiate necessary amendments within the stipulated 10-day period, stressing that timely intervention is essential.
