KHASI FOOTBALL STAR SANFIDA NONGRUM CALLS ON MEGHALAYA CM AFTER HISTORIC AFC BREAKTHROUGH

Following her historic performance at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Meghalaya star footballer, 20 year old Sanfida Nongrum paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister at his chamber earlier in the day, where he congratulated her on her achievement and extended his support for her future endeavours in the sport 

The young footballer recently made headlines after scoring India’s first goal in 23 years at the continental tournament. She also became the first woman from Meghalaya to represent India at the senior level, marking a significant milestone for the state.

Chief Minister, C9nrad Sangma had earlier announced a financial grant of Rs 2 lakh in recognition of Sanfida Nongrum's achievement and to support her future pursuits.

The development is being seen as a major boost for women’s football in Meghalaya, with Nongrum’s rise from the domestic circuit to the international arena expected to inspire aspiring players across the region.
