HYC SEEKS ACTION OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT ON CLASS VI STUDENT
The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council, HYC has sought action against a vocational education teacher following allegations of physical assault on a Class VI student at the Kendriya Vidyalaya, NEHU, Shillong.
Leading the delegation, HYC Education Secretary Enlang Sawian on Thursday visited the school after the student’s parents brought the alleged incident to the organisation’s notice. The HYC alleged that the teacher had also warned the student against revealing details of the incident.
The delegation sought to take up the matter with the school authorities and meet the Principal. However, in the Principal’s absence, the HYC held discussions with senior teachers, with the teacher in question also present.
Speaking to the media, Enlang Sawian alleged that the teacher attempted to downplay the alleged incident during the interaction. Following the discussion, the school authorities reportedly decided to keep the teacher away from teaching duties pending further deliberations with the Principal.
The HYC maintained that the allegations require due attention and called for appropriate action to ensure the safety and welfare of students within educational institutions.
