HYC DISPLAYS BANNERS BACKING GTF CHAIRMAN’S PROTEST
Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), led by its Organising Secretary Bah Shanbor Marweiñ, on Saturday installed flexes and banners along the road to Lumpongdeng, Umiam, in support of the ongoing agitation spearheaded by Green Tech Foundation (GTF) Chairman Bah H. Bansiewdor Nonglang.
The move is aimed at expressing solidarity with Nonglang, who has been on a hunger strike at Malki ground for the past nine days.
Following a deterioration in his health, he was shifted to Civil Hospital, after which the protest was continued by the GTF Secretary General.
Addressing the media, Marweiñ alleged that the State Government’s silence on the GTF’s demands suggests that it has already received financial backing from private companies for the proposed Taj Resort & Spa project at Dewlynnong, Lumpongdeng.
He further criticised the government for failing to respond to what he described as genuine concerns raised by the GTF, stating that the introduction of a spa project in the state is not in line with the interests and sentiments of the local community.
