DRUG MENACE NEAR NEW ASSEMBLY AREA RAISES ALARM AFTER ALLEGED SUPPLIER APPREHENDED BY HYC
Members of the HYC Nongmynsong Unit recently apprehended an alleged drug supplier following repeated complaints received from passersby and local residents regarding the movement of suspected narcotics near the Shillong Bye Pass close to the new Assembly building.
According to sources, the unit had been keeping a close watch on the area after receiving information about the alleged illegal activities. Acting on the inputs, HYC members reportedly intercepted the suspect during a surprise operation and later handed him over to the police for further investigation.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the growing menace of drug trafficking in and around Shillong, with local organisations urging the authorities to intensify surveillance and crack down on the illegal trade.
