National People’s Party's National President and Chief Minister of Meghalaya,  Conrad K. Sangma said humility, teamwork and prioritising public welfare were the core values that distinguished the party.

He was speaking at a programme to welcome three UDP legislators — West Shillong MLA Paul Lyngdoh, Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and Mookaiaw MLA Nujorki Sungoh — into the NPP fold. The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, along with senior party leaders.

Conrad Sangma said the legislators were not newcomers, citing their longstanding association with the party leadership and recalling the NPP’s formation in Meghalaya in August 2012. He said their induction was not merely about strengthening the party numerically but about bringing together like-minded leaders committed to serving the people.

Acknowledging that differences of opinion were inevitable in politics, Sangma said disagreements should be resolved through internal discussions rather than public exchanges. He stressed that decisions in governance must be guided by public interest, with leaders setting aside personal egos in the larger interest of the people.

He also informed that Nujorki Sungoh, who was undergoing medical treatment, would formally join the party in the coming days.
